Meet the Team

Revd Dr Andy Schuman

Vicar

Andy has responsibility for leading the parish in Mission and Ministry. He really enjoys working 1-1 with people as Mentor, Coach, Counsellor and Spiritual Director and loves helping people discover their God-Given Gifts and then use them.

He divides his time between being Vicar here and also doing a variety of roles for the Deanery Diocese and National Church. He is the Staff Chaplain to the Sea Cadet Corps where he helps lead, train and equip chaplains across the country, and he has a similar role as Sub Dean to the St John Ambulance chaplaincy. He also regularly looks after curates for the Diocese.

Andy is a Franciscan Tertiary and enjoys reading, board games, running, the outdoors and very peaty South Islay Malts.

Guy Wilkinson

Communities & Communications Minister

Guy is a retired priest with previous Church of England ministry in parishes and nationally. He has been invited to be ‘Communications and Community Minister’ across the four Brislington churches and in that capacity produces the weekly Brislington Community News. He supports the Sunday and mid week Communion ministry of the clergy across all four churches. He joins the clergy in their team meetings. In the diocese he is a trustee of the Cathedral Schools Trust and assists on matters of inter faith relations.

Richard Higginson

Re-fired Retiree

Richard is a retired theological educator, having spent much of his working life teaching Christian ethics, first at Cranmer Hall, Durham and then Ridley Hall Cambridge. He has Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Bristol and helps with preaching and leading worship at Christopher’s.

Richard is also a Trustee of Upper Reaches, the prayer barge on Temple Quay where groups meet regularly to pray for business in Bristol. He is a tour guide at Arnos Vale Cemetery and a season ticket holder at Bristol City football club.

His wife Felicity is also involved in the life of St Christopher’s. Four of their five adult children and all seven of their grandchildren live in Bristol – the spur for their moving here in October 2023.

Bill Campbell

Churchwarden

Bill Campbell is one of two Churchwardens at St. Christopher’s, and gets involved in pretty much every single aspect of church life!

Tamara Barrant

Churchwarden

Tamara is our Churchwarden, assisting with the day to day running of the church and cares for its building; as a mum of three, she has also experienced how it feels to be part of our Messy Church and Tots Time family.

Having been a member of St. Christopher’s for the past 10 years, she enjoys the fellowship and warm welcome that St. Christopher’s offers.

Tamara is a hairdresser and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Jon Cave-Ayland

Parochial Church Council (PCC) Secretary & Parish Safeguarding Officer

Jon has been part of St. Christopher’s for almost 10 years, and during that time has fulfilled a number of roles within the church leadership team. He has been a Parish Safeguarding Officer for 8 years, and has very recently taken on the role of PCC secretary, on the basis that he was already doing most of the work associated with the role!

Jon’s strengths are deliberation and diligence, and he enjoys learning more about how church works with a view to making it more transparent and accessible to everyone.  Jon works for a large UK bank in Risk, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano, running, eating chocolate, doing panto and drinking cider, although not necessarily in that order.

Richard Wadsworth

Treasurer

As our Treasurer, Richard is responsible for ensuring that our accounts are kept up-to-date, and for advising on ways to ensure that the church remains financially viable – a particularly important role in these uncertain times. Richard is also a keen musician, and regular plays the piano and organ in church services, as well as providing music for several local theatre groups.
